ENHANCING CHILD PROTECTION SYSTEM IN NEPAL

Published on : Nov-26-2019

CWISH has envisioned children in Nepal enjoying their childhood in a caring, safe and protected environment. The basic issues for the fulfillment of the children's rights are the definition of children, civil rights and freedom, family environment and alternative care, basic health and welfare, education, leisure, and cultural activities and special protection issues and concerns as stated in the UNCRC which is ratified by the Nepal government. Similarly, the constitution of Nepal has guaranteed the rights for the children's protection and envision the situation for enjoying their rights of development, participation, and survival. In this context CWISH as a civil society organization in partnership with Intermedia, Finland with the funding support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finland is facilitating a project "Enhancing Child Protection System in Nepal" to establish a well-functioning civil society network with capacitated members as well as institutions to report and refer the child rights violation cases and advocate to make government agencies accountable to respond them. Simultaneously, the intervention has targeted to enhance peoples' awareness of child rights and strengthen the local, district and national level child protection mechanisms to ensure the protective environment. This project attempts to protect the rights of children mobilizing a network of organizations, the National Child Protection Alliance (NCPA) in 27 districts of Nepal.  CWISH as a resource organization and key agency to implement the child rights monitoring intervention is mobilizing its own resources in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavre districts.
