On 8th November 2017, a program was held on “National Exchange between working children and Government delegates in the run up to the IV Global conference on child Labor” at New Baneshwor among the delegates from Nepal government who will be representing Nepal on 4th global conference on child labor and the children involved in consultation workshop of working children including members of child advisory committee (CAC). In the program the representatives from CAC presented their opinion on causes of child labor as well as recommendation for elimination of child labor compiled from consultation with 200 child laborers involved in domestic work, tobacco factory and those involved in entertainment sector. Representatives from Ministry of labor and employment (MOLE), General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI),International Labor Organization (ILO), terre des homes (TDH Germany), Winrock International were present in the program.
Two delegates who will be representating Nepal in the conference to be held at Argentina Mr. Krishna Prasad Gnawali, Joint secretary of Ministry of Labor and Employment and Mr. Baburam Koirala coordinator of GEFONT were present who assured the children that the recommendations provided by them will be presented as it is in the conference and suggestion will be provided to government accordingly to amend the plans and policies to work together for the elimination of child labor. They also assured that they will share about their experiences of conference after coming back to Nepal. Ms Ingrid Mendonca, South Asia Regional Coordinator of TDH; wished her best for representation Nepal for expressing the views of children.
