On 2nd December 2018, CWISH celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Alfa House in Kathmandu in presence of Honorable Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Tham Maya Thapa as the Chief Guest of the program and other distinguished guests from different institutions and organization. Founder President, Presidents and Board Members of CWISH came together to celebrate the auspicious day along with CWISH present and former employees, representatives from donor agencies and partner organizations, imminent personalities and well wishers. The program was inaugurated by Honorable Minister Tham Maya Thapa by lightening a panas lamp which was followed by the welcome speech by The Secretary of CWISH, Purna Kala Sharma. After her speech a short video clip was presented depicting CWISH activities and interventions. Shanti Adhikari, Founder President of CWISH, shed some lights on how WISH became CWISH and about its journey up to its 25th year. She shared about the ups and downs CWISH faced all these years and how it worked continuously for the rights of Nepalese children. She also thanked everyone for their support and help and expected the same in future
Release of “SMARIKA”, a souvenir published to celebrate the Silver Jubilee program of CWISH, by the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests was the centre of attraction of the program. Ramesh Poudel, from CWISH delivered his vote of thanks to all the writers and contributors -for their hard work in publishing of SMARIKA. Subsequently, Chief Guest Honorable Minister Thapa, in her inaugural speech, congratulated CWISH for its 25 successful years and urged to work with the same spirit in future for the welfare of children in Nepal. She put stress on working to make children healthier as the first priority which would definitely contribute to the development of the nation. The Chief Guest also expected suggestions from organizations like CWISH regarding the issues of children that should be focused by the government.
In the midst of the program, Shailee Theatre presented a short one-act play on the issue of domestic child labor. Guests and child rights activists Gauri Pradhan, Tarak Dhital, Krishna Subedi, Anjana Shakya, Santa Ram Dangol, Madhu Aryal, Bina Dahal, Dr. Milan Adhikari and Dominique delivered their remarks and congratulatory messages to CWISH. And President of CWISH's Child Advisory Board, Sangeet Khadgi also delivered his remarks by explaining about the roles of the Child Advisory Board. Apart from the remarks from the distinguished guests, a group dance was performed by some school children which enhanced the flavor of the celebration. The program came to the end with a closing remark from the President of CWISH, Mrs. Bimala Gyawali. She stated that CWISH would follow the lessons learned from the past and the organization would be very keen in strengthening its moves for the welfare of the children. She also thanked everyone for their valuable presence and making the program a grand success.
